We’re performing some great inshore fishing charters here in Pensacola, Florida this week. Returned from a much needed vacation over the weekend and was met with a full slate of Redfish University trips. Monday’s trip was postponed for later in the week due to bad weather and we packed two sessions in on Tuesday. Today’s morning trip was met with beautiful weather and slick conditions. Unfortunate, tomorrow and Friday’s weather may force more rescheduled trips at Redfish University and making next week a nightmare with all days filled except Christmas. May be interesting with doubles all week. Patience.

Yesterday(Tuesday), we ran two instruction trips with some transplants from Texas and a few local anglers looking to learn our local waters a little better during the Winter months. The morning session consisted of lots of speckled trout and redfish in the upper bay system and then we really whacked the larger redfish on some shallow, clear flats. Again, our anglers prefer to sight fish with artificial baits in clear, shallow water and that’s exactly what they got. The afternoon session focused on the legal redfish and speckled trout in the northern bays and with the rising tide, we smashed both species!! Both groups of anglers were actually very talented but just needed some excellent locations and some detailed, fine-tuning to increase their odds. Today’s outing was a pure sight fishing festival with redfish of all sizes cruising shallow flats in some very clear water. For this style of fishing, we used Berkley Gulp! 4″ Shrimp in Lime Tiger to pitch at hungry redfish in the 15-30# range with light-medium tackle. We even took a few on Sebile Bongas when we saw groups of fish from a great distance. They showed no hesitation in pounding these extremely durable topwater baits. All fish released healthy and happy during all three Redfish University instructional and fish-catching trips.
