The masses cometh for Pensacola, Florida’s #1 choice for inshore fishing instruction and big numbers of redfish/trout/flounder at Redfish University-October 1-2, 2012

It’s great to be Redfish University! We’re back from a superb weekend in South Beach, Miami and The Professor is back in the classroom, our 2012 Pathfinder 2300 HPS. Upon our return, Redfish University was greeted by a plethora of local anglers ready to learn the secrets, techniques and the vast inshore fishing knowledge that so many anglers have taken advantage of over the years here at Redfish University. We can’t stress enough the importance of carefully vetting your inshore fishing guides. Researching your guide’s biographical information, credentials, testimonials and overall angling experience will insure that you will find optimal value in your fishing trip and, most importantly, that you’ve made the best possible choice in that particular location, especially when it comes to inshore fishing instruction. We want anglers to return to the Pensacola area for many years to come. The last two days have been unbelievable in both angling education and pure fish-catching at Redfish University. We’re still finding great numbers of redfish and speckled trout in the lower and mid-bay areas. Contrary to other less knowledgeable reports, our redfish and speckled trout populations are indeed beginning their transitional stage(I stress “beginning”), but many of the larger speckled trout and most of the redfish will remain south until a significant cold front drives these better quality fish northward. There’s some valuable free advice to local anglers and other charter fishers. That is not to say that there aren’t some of both species near the large and small rivers in the area but many/most of these fish are below the size limits and are mostly unacceptable to Redfish University clients. We’ll stay with the Redfish University instructional trips for the remainder of the week and next with a few regular guided redfish and speckled trout trip in between for the bass fishing tourists. Thanks, E Holstman- Professor at Redfish...

Redfish University awesome Fall trips-Sept. 22, 23 and 24, 2012

The last three days of Redfish University trip have been outstanding. Catching lots of speckled trout and redfish early and then pulling on some bigger fish for the last few hours. The redfish and trout have been very predictable and have pounced on Sebile topwaters and suspending baits as well as the Gulp! Jerkshads. For the large jacks, we’ve been tossing large Sebile Bongos and we’ve been extremely impressed with the durability of the Sebiles and the strength of the hooks. A few trips ended with the jumping sharks that can be caught on ladyfish, 100# mono and a circle hook. Really fun for the young anglers at Redfish University. At it all week at Redfish University and looking forward to ending on Friday and then getting out of town! Thanks, E...

Two great trips today at Redfish University-Sept. 21, 2012

Busy, busy, busy. We had two very productive trips today. This morning, we hit the speckled trout hard and found some redfish in all sizes. Our anglers kept a limit of quality trout for a cookout. This afternoon, we started with some shark fishing around 230pm as we waiting for the water to rise. At 430pm, we took off to the east and found plenty of speckled trout and redfish until dark. Our anglers took just enough fish to eat tonight at Aegean Breeze. Back at it in the morning. Thanks, E...

Pensacola’s inshore fishing at its best at Redfish University-Sept. 19-20, 2012

Staying very busy and catching lots of fish at Redfish University. The speckled trout fishing has been extremely consistent and predictable in the last few weeks while the redfish have been easy to find but sometimes tricky to catch. Finding a lot of redfish in the 28-31″ range which are great for entertainment but obviously have to be released. Starting with Sebile Stickshadds the last few days to insure quick action and solid connections with most fish being taken in 1-3′ of water within schools of mullet and great water movement. Some areas are still a bit stained so we’ve been inserting a small plastic worm rattle in all Gulp! baits to draw nearby fish. This really makes a difference. The dreaded double booking tomorrow and then 6 days straight. It’s great to be Redfish University! Thanks again to all of the wonderful Redfish U anglers for making 2012 an epic year. On pace to hit 225 trips this year and I can only imagine the chaos in 2013!! E...
