Pensacola Fishing Charters and Instruction at Redfish University- The place to be on the Gulf Coast!! With no slow-down at Redfish University in the foreseeable future, we’re just pounding out some really productive instructional and guided fishing trips here in Pensacola. The Winter of 2012-2013 has been absolutely astonishing with great fishing, beautiful weather(not tomorrow) and a tremendous volume of both travelling and local anglers visiting Redfish University for our expertise in instruction for redfish, speckled trout, bull redfish as well as locational and technique heavy services. March and April are already halfway booked with many Winter clients looking for additional trips at Redfish University as well as a huge amount of Spring Break anglers travelling to Pensacola, Destin, Orange Beach, etc. Thank you for choosing Redfish University as your inshore fishing guide service here on the Gulf Coast! Big year! On Monday, we performed an instructional shallow water bull redfish trip in southern Pensacola Bay. Many anglers find it elementary and even boring to chase huge schools of bull redfish in our bay. I would have to agree. The sport of shallow water sight fishing for these fish is much more challenging, rewarding and entertaining. With overcast conditions, my job was made a bit more challenging as not all the huge redfish were in less than four feet water. In fact, many were in over six feet of water which made them very difficult to mark and point out to our anglers. The big new shipment of Oakley Scalpels, especially in the VR28 lenses, gave us a clear advantage that morning. Lots of fish viewed, some would bite and some would not. Ended up with some beauties on the Berkley Gulp! 4″ Shrimp and really worked out Redfish University’s arsenal of new Penn Conquer 4000s and the new Penn Regiment rods. Even the new Abu Garcia Inshore Revos 30 Spinning got stretched out well. On Tuesday, it was back to the redfish and speckled trout instruction up north and mid-bay. The speckled trout were rabid throughout the afternoon with our first speckled trout measuring 23.5″ and 22.5″ respectively. This is a nice way to start an instructional Redfish...

Pensacola Fishing Charters and Instruction at Redfish University. For our 23th trip of the year, we guided new residents CJ and his son, Nate. The guys were interested in speckled trout and then some shallow water bull redfish. I guess they’ve been following Redfish University’s recent reports. Started to the north with more speckled trout than we could count and then travelled south to find some large redfish on the flats. Found some clear and chalky water but the big fish were in both so we hammered away. Berkley Gulp! 4″ Shrimp and accurate casts are the keys to success. All fish released this morning. A really high volume of awesome instructional Redfish University guide trips the Winter. What better way to save time, fuel money and hours of headaches than visiting the Gulf Coast’s best and most sought after instructional guide service, Redfish University! Taking tomorrow off to many clients dismay but back Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of next week with more Redfish University success. See ya, E...

Pensacola Inshore Fishing Charters and Instruction at Redfish University. Classes were back in session today and yesterday at Redfish University after Wednesday’s postponed trip due to hazardous weather conditions. One group of clients are new residents to the Garcon Point area and today’s new client just moved to Mackey Cove. Each instructional trip took place in different locations but the results were the same; great instruction and tons of speckled trout and redfish. In both areas, we were met with semi-dirty water conditions and some manageable wind. The wind in the Winter is your friend! So are plastic worm rattles and fish whistles in stained water. Yesterday’s trip was definitely more consistent with nearly 50 quality speckled trip and 8-9 redfish in shallow water. Today was a bit more difficult and spotty but found plenty to keep us entertained. In fact, only one speckled trout this afternoon was under 15″ with most being 18-21″. Baits of choice included Berkley Jerkshads, Berkley Havoc Grass Pigs and Johnson 1/4oz Gold Spoons. Most fish were released and some hit the cooler. Looking forward to tomorrow’s father and son instructional session, taking Sunday off and then Monday-Saturday of next week. Will February be better than January?!?! Epic Winter!!! Thanks again, E...

Pensacola Inshore Fishing Charters and Instruction at Redfish University-Jan. 28,29 2013– On Monday and Tuesday, we performed two awesome Redfish University instructional fishing trips here in Pensacola, Florida. On Monday, our anglers were interested in learning about the Winter/Spring redfish and speckled trout fishery in the Pensacola Bay system. These guys are recent transplants and very talented bass anglers but just needed some specific guidance on locations, tide info and bait selection. Needless to say, they received all the above and more! We started with some quality speckled trout on some shallow flats way to the south. The fish were hovering over some darker, muddy bottom areas and were more than willing to take Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads and Berkley Havoc Grass Pigs. We really got some nice fish on a few passes with some reaching the 22″ line and most over 18″. Threw some of those on the ice and took off for some shallow redfish action. Found the mullet and found the redfish. Stuck several fish in the 22-30″ range and threw some of those in the cooler. For the remainder of the afternoon, we concentrated on a very productive “milkrun” finding nice numbers of quality redfish and speckled trout in every area we covered. An estimated 60+ speckled trout, 10-12 redfish and a small striper were taken by some great anglers. For today’s instructional Redfish University trip, our clients wanted to learn to sight fish for Pensacola’s bull redfish in shallow, clear water. Big winds, a little cloud-cover and unfavorable tides kept The Professor in full concentration mode today. We suited up our anglers with some Oakley Scalpels and Monster Dogs and we were off to the flats. A bit bumpy in the bay today, but no match for the Pathfinder 2300 HPS which made the sloppy conditions look silly. First stop and there were 18-25# redfish in every pothole. Once our anglers learned to recognize the presence of these huge fish, it was game on. Every accurate cast with a Berkley Gulp! 4″ Shrimp resulted in great cooperation. A few areas were a little turbulent but in all areas we viewed fish in singles, fives, tens...

Pensacola Fishing Charters at Redfish University Jan. 24,25,26 2013. The month of January 2013 has been the highest in client volume and fish production since Redfish University’s creation. A normal January and February can be a slow stretch with perhaps a dozen fishing trips for each month. This Winter season, we’re seeing a significant rise in client booking for two reasons; Redfish University instructional guide trips and beautiful weather with many days in the 60′s and 70′s. We’re looking at twenty trips to date with seventeen trips requesting pure instructional guiding services. This is outstanding and thank you so much!! The angling knowledge in Pensacola continues to grow with hundreds of degrees earned at Redfish University. Late last week for our Thursday, Friday and Saturday trips, we conducted two instructionals and one sight fishing trip for bull redfish. We don’t consider bull redfish trips to be instructional but the shallow water aspect of these Redfish University trips certainly provide some detailed techniques and locational services. For the redfish and speckled trout instructionals, we actually spent most of our time further south on warm shallow flats where larger trout and the legal redfish have remained for the Winter months. This also gives our clients much more variety and ideas for the Spring and Summer when most of our clients will be fishing on their own. Again, big numbers of speckled trout with 40-60 hitting the boat and better numbers of redfish than we’re seen in past weeks. Berkley Gulp! always gets the call! For the bull redfish, we stayed on shallow bars and flats to pick out 1′s, 5′s and 10′s and placed Berkley Gulp! 4″ Shrimp in their path. Some speckled trout and redfish found their way into the cooler, with many released and all larger redfish released. Looking forward to this afternoon’s Redfish University’s instructional trip and the rest of the week with the exception of Thursday if anyone wants it!! If not, we’ll make some phone calls. Monday-Saturday, happy days and awesome fishing at Redfish U!! Also, welcome Capt. Brant Peacher! Many knowledgable and excited reports to come!! Take care, E...
