Guided Mr. Trevor Thomas this morning for a quick trip before I left for Atlanta. Trevor was interested in the learning about the recent topwater action and where to target these redfish and trout. Started at first light again and started getting huge strikes and caught nice fish immediately. The redfish and trout pounded the surface baits until 830am and then we switched to Gulp! Jerkshads. Fished four or five very productive areas and was back at the ramp by 1000am to beat the heat. Ended with 15-20 trout including some 4-5# fish as well as 10+ redfish between 23-26″. A short but very fun day. Headed to ATL for the weekend and then another packed schedule at Redfish U. next Monday-Friday. See everyone soon. No photos today as I forgot my camera and my cell phone camera is...Read More
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Berkley/Penn Tour visited Destin, FL. and Panama City, FL. Pure Fishing representatives, Scott Dubiel and Kevin Benton, as well as Berkley Pros Bryan and Greg Watts, myself and Penn Pro George Mitchell were all in attendence. We were able to introduce tackle store employees and customers to Pure Fishing/Berkley/Penn new products for 2o1o. Lots of new Berkley Gulp! baits, Penn reels, Powerbaits, Superlines and rods are sure to take the fishing industry by storm. Pure Fishing has recently taken over Penn Reels, AllStar rods, Shakespeare, X-Tools and well as other companies in the industry. Keep an eye out for all the awesome new products in 2010!! Redfish University welcomes the first significant cold-front of the Fall. Redfish U. has been waiting for a week like next week all year. As the water temperature drops and the water levels fall to extremes, the redfishing will become more predictable and 15-25 redfish days will be very common. Less water means less places to hide and the redfish will begin to concentrate in groups in shallow and relatively warmer water. Water clarity is also a huge plus this time of year as the rainy days become less numerous as the cooler temperatures arrive. Looking forward to showing all my clients some very aggressive redfish in the coming months!! See ya soon, Eric Holstman Click on this photo of a quality redfish on warm mud taken by Pete...Read More
Guided a great client from Atlanta this morning in East Bay and south Escambia Bay. Hit some very nice trout early and then blasted off to get some redfish in the shallows. Again, poling and elevation allowed us to have many more quality opportunities at sitting, tailing and cruising fish. Ended up with 8 fish between 25-29″ and quite a few under 22″. Lots of fish, lots of action and hopefully, lots of knowledge gained. See ya soon, E...Read More
